Mt system is being attacked by spywares.
IE has tons of popups, Firefox says" use IE or else", and opera won't open some links like youtube etc...
what do i do.
I have windows and nvidia firewall running. Ive fully scanned my system with AVG, spybot, ad-aware etc with latest updates.

All my bookmarks are in firefox, and nowthat i can't use it. Also opera can't import .html bookmark backups.

try scanning system with Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. both are freeware ad the most effective spyware scanners available

hi can't open either of the pages uve mentioned and all i get is a Huahahaha laughing sound and some stupid words"orkut is banned u fool, if admin did't do it then guess who"
Ive installed zone alarm also.

I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE


W32.USBWorm spreads through USB drives. Prevents user from using Firefox, shows message which reads, "I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE..." The message header reads, "USE INTERNET EXPLORER YOU DOPE." Firefox is then closed by force. Also blocks "Orkut" and "YouTube" sites.

Solutions

Format the usb drive first (your data may loose) which carries the virus
Update : No need to frmat the USB Pen Drive, delete the autorun.inf file and any folder whose name ends with .exe in the pen drive.

Press Alt+Ctrl+Del --> you can see 'Task Manager' --> click on Process tab --> Locate 'SVCHOST.EXE' (will see many SVCHOST.EXE, but select the one having 'User Name' same as your Windows login name). --> Click End Process button

Now proceed the following


Way 1

Open Task Manager by holding Ctrl + Alt + Del and click on the process tab.

- Ignore the warning messages and stop the SVC.Host for the system's user name.

- Navigate to C:/Heap41a and delete the contents of the folder. Smile.


Way 2

Start Menu>Run>regedit press enter key

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL
CheckedValue reset it back to 1 from 2. ( to do that right click CheckedValue>modify>value data >

Beware of using USB Pen drive especially in the browsing center. Found some browsing centers in Bangalore too.

go to C:\heap41a and delete this folder, If the folder called test.exe delete that too from your desktop.

Clear all the key entries from this registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\policies\Explorer\ with entry called heap41a

Update : Don't Unintall FireFox, some people are experiencing issues with OS after uninstalling Fire Fox after infecting the virus. Instead of removing the virus, if you uninstall the system will refuse to boot in normal / safe mode

Actually it was affected from a memory card on the phone. It was with my friend.

good to see yr problem is solved. normally scanning with 2 a/s's in safe mode usually gives the desired results.

If you find this message “I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE…” when you launch Firefox or this” ORKUT IS BANNED, Orkut is banned you fool`, The administrators didn’t write this program guess who did?? ” when you try to launch Orkut Or "youtube IS BANNED,youtube is banned you fool`, The administrators didn’t write this program guess who did??`r`r MUHAHAHA!!,30", then you are system is infected with w32.USBworm. Don’t PANIC, this worm is a decent worm, which does not destroy your files or damage your computer.

The following steps help you to remove w32.USBworm completely from your system.

First you need to see all the running processes on your system, for that you need to press Alt+Ctrl+Del. This will launch 'Task Manager' then click on Process tab to see all the running processes. Then you need to manually search for 'svchost.exe' (you will find many but you need to carefully select the one which is having 'User Name' as your Windows login name). Refer to the below attached picture. After finding the process, right click on the process and click 'End Process Tree', and then click on OK. This will kill the running virus on your system.

Now you can happily launch Firefox, Orkut and Youtube.

Lets throw the worm out of the computer

To remove the worm completely from your computer, you need to remove Registry keys written by the worm

1. Press "Window key" + "r" or go to Start-->Run, then type "regedit" (without quotes).
2. You need to navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\ Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL, checkedvalue" And reset the “CheckedValue” key back to 1. This is to show all the hidden files.
3. Then navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run " and delete the "winlogon" key. --- This will stop the worm installing at the start up.

Now you need to search for the worm which is located on your harddisk. For that you need to use the windows search and do the things. Simply open search window and type"svchost.exe" it will be a green icon wid "H" written on it

Last but not the least,

you need to download disinfectant (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sect...isinfector.exe) and then run on your computer to avoid further attack of this worm.

Note: This disinfectant does not remove the worm. You need to manually remove the worm
