Default Unable to turn back on 'windows feature'

well, in the control panel > 'turn windows features on/off' i unchecked 'tablet pc etc', and rebooted successfully, to turn off this feature.

now i want to turn that feature back on again. but if i check that feature and click ok/install, after a while, towards the end, i get get 2 messages :

reboot required.
change occured to your windows license
you must restart your pc or your windows will stop working.

and imdtly therafter another message:

an error has occured. not all of the features were successfully changed.

i checked to see if the snipping tool (which is a part of this feature) was working, but it wasnt. was connected to the net and online when working on this. doing a system restore / working in safe mode, returns a 'unable to restore' error.

i want to re-enable this feature. any ideas?

use vista ultimate, original, with default settings. dont want to consider rolling back to an 'old' full-pc-backup or an acronis back up of mine, for the moment.

any ideas ???

Strange. Try to put the DVD in drive while enabling the features.

if nothing helps re-install not a fresh 1 ... run the setup again ... thats what i do when im troubleshooting some 1 else's pc ... risk free and takes care of the problem 8 out of 10 times
