Default VMWare Import/Export


Hi

I need a little help. I have few Virtual Machines in VMware 5. Now i want to format Windows and reinstall the OS.

Can anyone help me on how to Import these Virtual Machines stored on D: when i reinstall XP and VMWARE ?

Hi,
I think an existing virtual machine can be opened using the File Menu > Open option. You need to have all files (.vmx, .vmdk, .nvram etc) of that virtual machine, so that it works properly. However, I haven't tried it. It would be better if you test this thing before removing VMWare.
For example, copy all files of a Virtual OS to another PC, install VMWare in that PC. Then, open the .vmx file from VMWare and see if the OS boots up.

The basic concept of VMWare itself is under question here, no probs
VMWare uses basically 3 sets of files, VMDK, NVRAM and a CONF file.
You will have no probs importing these to another machine and still use them as new as ever.

Open did work. I cant beleive i didnt think "open" will do it.....
