Default vista problem


hi,
I am using vista home basic edition since 1 month..
since some times i m finding problem in driver istallation..

problem is when ever i insert any plug and play device even pen drive. first it serches for driver and then prompts me to give location of driver !! it is not able to install driver automatically.. even drivers for disk drives, mouse are not located automatically..

have i modified any setting or what?

please help

actually d problem dat u mentioned arises bcos vista does not seem 2have ne vista-compatible drivers 4 ur hw in its db

u may want 2 check ur hw offcial website 2 c wat drivers dey came up wit 4 vista and install dem b4 plugging d hw back in

ya i think for first 15 days i was working..

when i tried to do partition in hdd then also it asked me to give path for "disk drive" driver..

i think drivers for disks should be by default in vista..
and when i manually locate path for the driver, it searches the driver and installs.

but this should be done automatically just as xp ..

in an ideal world Vista shud have installed it automatically
but Vista is still quite new, so its db of hw drivers is still not vast enuf 4 all d hws dat people use

whereas XP is almost 5 yrs old now so it has had enuf time 2 come up with d drivrs comaptible with a lot more hws by now

may be..
but vista is preconfigured in laptop. so it should have its own hdd's driver !!
whatever..

anyone can suggest me more
