Taskmanager & system restore issue

hi friends
i was viewing nfs pro street promo then media player hanged & i hit alt+ctrl+del to end it but taskmanager hanged too
since then i cant run taskmanager in windowed mode, it runs only in maximised or on the taskbar
no virus on sys & the option minimise to taskbar is also disabled
& system restore also doesnt work
on restoring everything goes fine, system reboots & a msg is flashed that system restore operation failed
please help me

edited : sometimes it just isnt worthwhile trying to help ppl !!!! hence deleting my solution which i had worded as a sgstn. ppl shud give complete info b4 asking others here for help.....yawn.....sorry i wasted my time in this thread !

scan ur pc with all possible softwares u have .........

& always scan cd\dvd u r going 2 use ......

it said that ms help & support finally says cant u do anything else instead of bothering me!!!

any way the taskmanager is working fine
how it got working
i was playing blazing angels then the game hanged & i did hit alt+ctrl+del & since then my taskmanager is working fine
still looking for sys restore to get repaired

next time suggest a solution instead of a suggestion
