Default Windows Vista --> Gone and come the "Windows 7"

That may sound like an odd question, but it seems to be a hot topic lately. According to several online articles, Microsoft has confirmed that the next new version of the Windows operating system will be released in just three short years. That seems impossible, doesn't it? I mean, with Windows Vista only being a few months old, how could they possibly be thinking about another new version already?

Well, that's just how the business works, I guess. It is said that Microsoft is trying very hard to pinpoint a timeline for this new release. That way, they won't have to struggle with so many set backs and delays like they did with Windows Vista. That's nice of them to do, but it still seems like things are moving just a little too quickly. You see, there was a five year gap in between the release of Windows XP and Windows Vista and it looks as if Microsoft is trying to cut back on that this time around. They're always thinking of new ideas and they want to share them with the world as soon as possible.

With all that aside, the new Windows operating system is going by the name of "Windows 7" for now, but that will likely change by the time it's actually released to the public. For instance, Windows Vista went by the name of "Longhorn" before it finally became available. As of right now, a specific date is not scheduled for the release of Windows 7 and in the end, that will be determined by how well it meets the quality bar Microsoft sets for it. So, if you're already longing for a new operating system, hold tight. It will be here before you know it! And as always, I will continue to keep you posted on this. As soon as I hear anything, you'll be the first to know!

But sorry guys I dont have any ideas about its features and all but i think wikipedia will help u for now, so just head to the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_%22Vienna%22

If anybody gets any further news regarding this then please post it here.

Nope, Microsoft already has lots of new technologies in form of Windows Vista. With Windows 7 they just have to make use of those technologies. We already have Aero, Indigo etc, they just need to make use of these technologies. Vista has proved to be a very solid desktop, but few more things are required. SP1 brings the new kernel which is always a welcome.

Prakash, its a consumer choice to use any web host out there. Again, it is the choice of the web host to chose any server OS.

From what is known, singularity is not kernel but a new User Interface method (not system)

MS is not petty minded praka. singularity is difrnt, btw.

nice comment iMAV

piyushp_20 : reg this 'sp1 coming/not coming' , '7, when coming, etc', are just rumours being floated one day and contradicted a few days later purely to get hits (by sites/blogs) in my opinion.

aftr putting up a website iv been studying such things in detail. i found that there is atlst one such large 'cartel' consisiting of 1 nodal 'news' agency 3-4 forums and sevral reputed blogs who have just networked and integrated amongst eachother so well that we (the surfer) usually end up visiting these 1st, b4 landing at the main source. Sigh, when will we learn from that ...
this is in fact the essense of my writeup too : "Vista SP1 coming soon, say sources !" The blog gets a lot of reads. Then two days, later the same writer again says : "SP1 not coming so soon !" The Blog again gets a lot of hits ! The rumour mill sure is active !

bottomline. enjoy vista for the moment. let sp1 come when it wants too. dont wait for the 2010/2011 windows7...the timeline may slip ! if u want to have a look at some pictures of w7 iv put some on my site. click on them to enlarge. they are heavy though...and take a little time to load.

Rest assured "Internally, MS doesn't want dust kicking on Windows7; Not even its Mktg does" Its is just what speculators have been talking about !
