Default CD Burning Software.

Hi guys
Please suggest me some good CD-DVD burning software. I hate Nero as it is eating up my system memory and also giving errors while writing CDs. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling different versions of Nero and it didn't help. Most of the time I get a Blank or damaged CD when the 'writing process' is done by Nero.
I used a trial version of some old CD burning software and was able to write CDs with no issues at all. Unfortunately, that trial version has limited features.
So guys help me and tell me which is best CD-DVD burning software... and other than Nero. I aplogize if this question is asked before in forum.
Many thanks!

Guys... any suggestions??

Use Roxio CD/DVD burning software...its the best burning s/w i'v come across till date....Only use it if you have more than 256 MB RAM...It has many features but resource hungry...

If you are looking for some light application den go for DeepBurner....

I would personally suggest you to use Nero Express 6... Try out this version once..I nevr faced a prob wid dis !

Try Alcohol 120%

Also take precautions while burning CDs. Close all programs running in background. Keep speed low. Defragment your hard disk. Media should be dust and scratch free.
K3b is good for Linux users.
Use pendrive wherever possible.

Nero6 or 7 works fine. Just check your writer configuration. See in IDE drivers if UDMA mode is "on" or not. Because without UDMA mode if you try to write CD at faster rate it will fail.

Thanks

Hi Sarvesh,
Can you tell me more about how to confogure Nero properly. However, I trien uninstalling and reinstalling it many times. May be settings you suggested above will help. Let me know the steps in detail you mentioned above.
Thanks.

Nero 7 never gave me any problem at all.
Be careful while installing.

Thanks.
1. Open your control panel.

2. Double click "system" icon.

3. System Properties should open - select Hardware TAB.

4. Click on Device Manager - to open it.

5. Go to " IDE ATA\ATAPI controllers and dounle click.

6. Tree should open showing ultra ATA controller along with Primary IDE channel and seconsary IDE channel.

7. Now you should be knowing whether you have connected your cd writer to primary master\slave or secondary master\slave.

8. Just open both the channel one by one and check the advanced setting.

9. If it shows PIO in any channel change it to use DMA if available.

10. ReBOOT.

If this doen't work - I mean if after this also it shows PIO mode only. Then you should try uninstall your CDdrive from device manager and reinstall.

or uninstall the primary or secondary channel and reinstall. It will ask you to reboot - reboot.

thats it
