what Avast program do you have and which mcafee prog do you have ( is mcafee the full Internet security suite or just a scanner)??? go to add/rem progs try removing toolbars including google's updater thingy-ma-jiggy it maybe a conflict with the avast and mcafee. have you tried to remove in safe mode, then reboot to safe mode to see if it is still there. if it is gone then mostlikely a service running in the backround upon startup,

I guess this is the same problem that I used to have before, but now, I am safe....I recommend you to install NOD32, after that install Symantec AV along with SPYBOT S&D. This should be able to fix your problem dude.

All the best.

I don't think such files always represent virus infections. Yahoo! messenger creates a file YServer.txt in C:\ everytime and many softwares keep creating a txt file when they run. Maybe its possible, this file is work of some such software.

true which makes me think it maybe google's updater service.... hence why I asked buddy to boot to safe mode (network)a few times and try it out.
