HELP XP installation

i connested my hdd with my frnds pc n thn deleted formatted it n thn wen i wantd 2 install back win xp on my pc..... it cudnt install coz i hav an outdated mothr brd..... n d bios doesnt work properly....

so my questn is can i install xp by connectin my hdd on sm other pc...... or it has 2 b installed only wen connected 2 mine(coz u hav 2 mak sm installations frm ur driver cd)

n can i install win 98 or sm othr os while my hdd is connected 2 sm othr pc n thn install xp l8r wen i connect it 2 my pc????

plz help!!!!

Well in 98 yes, Windows 98 can be installed in a HDD Connected to System A then remove that HDD and attach with System B and run again without installaion of OS again wtih not much of a problem....

In case of Windows XP, it because very un-reliable !!! Driver issue max of the time through up many issue hence makes the computing slow and difficult !!!

AFAIK u can install xp by connecting to another hdd but when u will

connect ur hdd on ur motherboard its possible( not sure) that XP will not

start .

on windows 98 i think there will not be any problem . i have done it

this is not possible in winXP
i tried to install XP on 2 approx same PC config
I attached HDD to 1st PC install XP & attach that HDD it to 2nd PC
but XP dosent RUN

Can u tell us whats the problem installing the OS in ur native computer ?? as if u are facing hardware error while installing an OS, make no miss-take, u will face that same problem while running the OS...

98 mein chalta tha .......... bt 4 XP, it should b installed with ur ur motherboard & other parts [ur pc] only ..........

u must install sysprep on d hdd after installation b4 taking it back 2 ur own comp

we are all missing the point, the reason his is showing for the purpose will not help with any method, if u are unable to install OS because of Hardware issue, nothing will ensure smoth running

totally agree with choto_cheeta babu. sumwer down d line d discussion drifted into wether it is possible 2 run an OS from d HDD wen d installation was dun on sum other config comp. me 2 a culprit.

no thr is no prob in my h/w as i used 2 run xp n 98 bfore........ but d prob is wit d mthrbrd tat it is outdated n d bios setup is too bad...... i cant even change d boot option.......

i think 98 will wrk..... i will try it n tell u ppl l8r..... nyways thanks

if u had installed XP on urcomp once den mobo dated outdated makes no diff [unless of course u tryin 2 say dat d ur mobo is damaged, which i dont think u r trying 2 say]

as 4 ur bios wat does too bad mean and y r u not able 2 change d boot option
r u gettin any error message
if u cud elaborte on these points d members wud b in a better position 2 help u

also r u getting ne error messages during installation of XP?

luk...... i cant explain u evrything..... i cant change my bios settings coz thrs no option to change sm of thm........
nyways thanks to u ppl......
its done..... i frst installed 98 n thn connect d hdd 2 my pc...... (ie my mobo)
thn installed xp..... n removed d 98..... its workin....
