Default broadband

Hi, friends I got broadband today.

Please guide me how to use broadband betterly.
It is BSNl's and is connected to the usb port at the speed 12 mbps. Should i connect it to lan to get maximum speed

suggest me good software(paid OK) that can keep a track on the usage and restrict download if it crosses the maximum downloadable capacity so that i need not pay extra money.

Wink Re: broadband

Usb connection needs a recoginization/Driver, but NIC connection, does'nt need. No speed difference!
Also, use Bandwidth Meter Pro. "Best!"

Though it doesnt make much of a difference between USB and a LAN still LAN is lot stable and the system overheads are less.
Cose LAN and only when you are run out of Ports opt for USB.

Always recommened to use LAN for best broadband experinece. I am doing training in airtel broadband..and we dont prefer installing new connection on USB...Also with USB you may face probem of frequent disconnection.

For knowing how much you have download..there is service on BSNL site.

Connect thru LAN for maximum optimal connection. Sometimes connecting in USB and running a task that requires a large amount of CPU, may freeze your PC.
