Unhappy CD Burning Blues

Hi all
I am using LG DVD-CDWriter combo on XP to write CDs. I am facing problems while writing CDs. If I use Nero to write CD, everything goes the way it should. Nero displays status and writes the CD. However, when it shows CD written successfully and when I try to run the CD, Windows says that it is a Blank CD abd shows some or the other error.
When I use WindowsXP, inbuilt software to write CD..., it is written perfectly and even windows plays it well. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Nero many times, it didn't help. Nero is wasting my CDs and I want to make VCDs.
Guys, what can be the problem? Do you know some software as good as Nero to make VCDs that can be run on all CD players?
I apologize if such question is asked before in forum.

Thanks.

^^ Do not use Nero. Try using Roxio or some other CD burning tool. Nero can be a problem sometimes, like in my friends PC it always fails the DVD burning.

Use download.com/softpedia.com to search for good CD burning software. See the ratings and use the better option.
