Just 2day i bought myself an HP Pavillion dv6314tx notebooks which has Windows Vista Ultimate pre-installed in it. Now the problem that I am facing is that, The operating system is installed on a single partition of 142GB and there is another partition of 10GB, which is used as a backup. Hp provided me with only 2 backup DVD's & I have no drivers for Windows XP. Now if i go about partitioning my drive to my liking, than I have 2 end up recovering my notebook with the recovery DVD'S and I end up again with a single usable partition (coz i cant work in XP without drivers) Please suggest me any software that would allow me to partition my HDD from within the operating system (Vista) Thanks.................. |

maybe partition magic might help , not so sure .
but the diskpart utility in vista can reduce the first partion's size and convert it to unpartitioned space which u can use to create other logical drives.... http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp in the midle of the tut you'll find how to use diskpart .
