Registry:no entry for administrator

Hey folks n geeks!

Please tell me how to enable or disable registry editting(regedit), I was trying to edit registry on a PC and had logged in as administrator but the PC said that:

Registoty editing has been disabled by the administrator.


Tried in DOS mode, it gives the same error.
Tried editing administrator policies, did not find anything good other than remote registry which was already enabled.
Scanned for viruses using updated AVG antivirus, but no help.
please help!
