These issues may occur if you upgrade Windows XP SP1 Home Edition to Windows XP Professional, or if you use the System Restore feature to restore to a state prior to SP1, as these actions may cause an integrity problems with registry settings in the System hive.

To resolve these problems:
1. Copy / Paste the following to a notepad file,and then save it as Solution.reg
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan]
"ObjectName"="LocalSystem"
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\25]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\26]
2. Merge the Solution.reg file with you registry.(i.e Double click on it and then press Yes]

3. Shutdown and restart Windows XP.

OR

1. Browse to the %SystemRoot%\inf\Sr.inf file."%" satnds for the Drive where ur Windows is installed)

2. Right-click the %SystemRoot%\inf\Sr.inf file and press Install.

3. Press Browse in the Files Needed dialog box and select the Sr.sys file from the i386 folder of the Windows XP CD-ROM.

4. Press OK.
5. When the install is finished, shutdown and restart Windows XP.

Hope This helps you
