Default driver problem

I have a intel pentium 4 machine and it has served me well for about 3 yrs now..the problem now is that the modem doesnt seem to be working. So I checked the device manager and the drivers were missing...since i ve lost the driver cds i managed to get it online.Actually the modem is from CONEXANT.
When I ran the driver it says not certified fofr windows but then i just clicked to proceed. Now I cant find the modem in the device manager and says new hardware found ie PCI simple communication controller.

am in a fix now.
thanks for any suggestion
