Unhappy Computer Not Responding Properly?????

Hi Guys & Gals(If any )

well i am having this strange problem with my PC since yesterday
night..

as usual when i connect to the net i start to download stuff.... so i had left
some downloads going on and had gone to my friends place...
For downloading i use Getright Pro... so the download was going on...

So when i came back it went in standby mode like usual.. so i brought it back to the online mode and go to see i was still connected but my download was no where to be seen... so i saw thje getright system tray icon on my taskbar and opened it.. go to see my download has stopped abruptly...
so when i went to resume it.. the window was flickering.. (the getright window i.e. and not monitor)
and it wasnt allowing me to click on anything.. anything i clicked it just closed by itself... so then i thought maybe something wrong with Getright.. so i shut it down.. and went to disconnect the net and reconnect.. but as i was right clicking on the connection.. that too opened a pop up but when i was trying to select something it was closing all by itself and not letting me do anything..
the next thing was when i thought of restarting the PC.. when i clicked on start.. it closed by itself and note that whenever i tried to do any of these tasks the windows flickered and then closed.. (the flickering is same as when your cell is kept near the monitor and you are abt to receive a call.. in that way the screen flickers...)

so then i had to restart the PC manually... once i restarted i thought the problem would be solved.. but no.. when it came to the log on scree... there are 2 users for my PC one is me and the other is my Brother.. my user is password protected while his is not.. so when i tried to log on to my account user.. the password field appeared (i.e. the white text box) but i could type anything into it.. it was as though the PC just hanged... then again since i couldnt do anything i restarted the PC again manually.. and then tried to log on to my brothers user account and it logged on successfully..

so i then thought that i should do a virus scan first before doing anything else..

i am using Kaspersky Anti Virus (dont remember the version though) so when i opened the scan window.. the screen began flickering again.. but luckily before it could close i started the scan.. and the scan was going on.. the flickering stopped there for some time.. and then as the scan was going on i connected to the net.. and began my downloads again.. and it resumed properly.. without any probs.. it seemed that everything was normal again..

after the complete scan was over there was no infection detected.. so then i restarted my PC.. but alas.. it does not log onto my user properly.. i once logged on to my account with the password.. but then since it was again flickering i restarted the PC.. and now i cannot again log onto it..

Its really buggin me.. this has now started since yesterday night.. dont know what to do???

Please guys help me out here..

Thanks in advance for all your help...
