Exclamation Cant hear windows starting and logon/off sounds

I have this strange problem for the past few months. i cant hear windows Start and exit sound, windows logon and logoff sound. All other system sounds are audible. However, when i tried to play the above mentioned sounds in the Sounds and Audio Device Properties they were audible. could there be any corrupted or missing files? I need some help to fix this issue.

Open regedit and goto:

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Sound
In right-side pane, change value of Beep to yes. Now the sound should come.

Its a known BUG in windows XP. If u disable the error beep, it'll automatically disable log off/startup sound.
