I'll not suggest u to use Vista on 256 MB RAM. The system must hv at least 512 MB RAM to install Vista (Thought there r hacks available to install Vista even on 256 MB RAM). If u really want to enjoy Vista, then ur system should hv at least 1 GB RAM.

you have to need a 512 MB Ram. so you will have a 512+256 = 768 DDR Ram, than the vista works fine. Also the ram price was down 512 is only Rs 1650 + 3 Warranty.

No, Vista installs on machines with 512 MB RAM or more. As kushagra told it detects the RAM during installation and then tell you it cannot install. Buy a 512MB module!!!!

or u can do a neat little trick used by my friend .......... he used a 1 GB stick and installed Vista ...and after installation ... he simply replaced the 1GB stick by his own 256 MB module and VOILA ...vista was up and running fine ....... cant say if its illegal or not .... u can just try it if u can borrow some ram from any of ur friends .....

Vista in 256 MB RAM? Do not dream. I suggest you try Ubuntu Linux with beryl if you crave for a 3D desktop.

just use VLite to tame the beast, remove whatever u don't need. I removed MCE, Language packs, useless drives from my installation & now it runs faster then the default state at 1 GB RAM
