Media Player Problem

I am using Windows Media Player 11 on vista. Whenever i try to run a video file it gives the error and the media player closed down. Please help me i can't run any video files.

Well I think u have installed DivX player on Vista. Vista doesn't support it.
Or it could be problems with broken codecs.

Suggestion :
Uninstalled any codec you have and install VISTA CODEC PACKAGE v441.

i install the codec for vista, video is working, but the sound was not coming. on movies. and also it is showing a missing audio codec. Now what the problem
