ATTENTION!!! BUG FOUND...

1. Open Safari in Windows. Now click on its taskbar button to minimize it. Guess what? It'll not be minimized. WHY? coz the options for "Minimize", "Restore", etc are disabled. STRANGE!!!

2. Maximize Safari and now click on Minimize button. OK cool, it'll be minimized and now maximize it again. VOILLA, it'll not be in maximized when u'll restore it.

3. Maximize it and right-click on its taskbar button and guess what? U'll get option for "Move" even its in maximized state. STRANGE!!!

2 MORE BUGS:
===========

1. "Windows -> Maximize" remains same always irrespective of the window is maximized or not! It should interchange between "Maximize" and "Restore" based upon the window state.

2. "Edit -> Spelling -> Check Spelling While Typing" doesnt work.

^^ lol.
Actually u didnt get my BUG. I meant the option "Windows -> Maximize" remains same. When u click on "Windows " menu, there will be an option "Maximize". This option remains same either ur windows is already in maximized state or not!
It should change to "Restore" if the window is not maximized.

Apple made Safari available for a few reasons:
1. To increase the user base so that more web developers start supporting it.
2. To give web developers stuck with Windows a platform for testing how their applications will look on the iPhone.
3. To give Windows users a taste of Mac OS X's interface to try and attract more customers.

If they made it with a Windows UI, it would defeat the third purpose. I am not justifying the move, just explaining it. I agree that the unified theme does look out of sorts with Vista's glassy interface and that the three buttons for maximise, minimise and close look ugly.

^^ Yeah, here the Bold, Italics options are disabled.
What I think is, they hvnt removed non-working options from windows version. They'll make them working in future releases.
Thats why many options arnt working in this version and such options are greyed out.

To all of you using the Windows version, does it support drag and drop well? I mean, can you do all/some of the following:
1. Dragging links onto the bookmarks/tabs bar.
2. Dragging images and links out of the browser onto the desktop to save them.
3. Dragging text out of the browser onto the desktop.
4. Dragging text among form fields and within a field.

Also, when you click on the '+' sign to add a bookmark, what sort of a dialog box appears?

1. Yes.
2. No.
3. No.
4. Among Fields - No // Within Field - Yes.

An animated dialog box coming from the mid of titlebar.

^^^^ I think most Windows users uninstalled it within 10 mins

You got Windows installed, why not check for yourself?

Just to note, drag & drop works for address bar. Thats it

Thank you so much! I am very glad that it was you who answered my question.

I am thoroughly surprised that even the Windows version has the neat sheet based dialogs.

Would you mind trying just one more thing for me?

Go to imageshack.us and click on 'Choose File'. When the dialog box appears (from the titlebar again), try dragging a folder/file from an Explorer window into the dialog box. Does it automatically jump to that location? It is a great feature and if it is there in the Windows version too, it will make the lives of Safari users easier.

Nope, if we do that. It will drag & drop that new file or folder to the one opened right now.

How do I open tabs? Where is the new tab button? I can't add it to toolbar. Looks like jobs got out of secret features to show in WWDC so to get the spotlight he told his developers to port safari to Windows in 24 hrs

First interesting thing is that, when I opened the site in Safari, I got "Choose File" button while in other browsers the button name is "Browse".
Since the button names are different, their functionality is also different.
In other browsers, we can type the path of file in given text box but in Safari we can't.
And when I clicked on "Choose File" button in Safari, I didnt get that animated dialog box, I got the windows dialog box, thats why the feature u mentioned doesnt work and the dragged file/folder is copied to the opened folder in dialog box instead of going to that folder.

Uh oh... that's what I call getting the worst of both worlds!

Vishal, the button reads differently because that has always been a part of Apple's philosophy. 'Choose File' is easier to understand than 'Browse'. Similarly, there are no 'Yes' and 'No' sort of dialog boxes in Mac OS X. The buttons always read 'Save', 'Don't Save', 'Review Changes', 'Discard Changes', etc. instead of 'Yes', 'No' and 'OK'. You, of all people, must have noticed that Microsoft has changed a lot of dialog boxes in Vista to make them easier to understand, compared to XP.
