Even I would recommend PC inspector(cause I never used anything else). Save your recovered files in the different partition<< This is the key of this software.

My personal fav.. Restoration, 229kb, easy to use and straight forward tool to undelete files that were removed from the recycle bin or directly deleted from within Windows, and I was able to even recover photos from a Flash card that had been formatted. Upon start, you can scan for all files that may be recovered and also limit the results by entering a search term or extension. In addition, it also provides the option to wipe the found files beyond simple recovery. The program is small and standalone, it does not require installation and can also run from a Floppy disk. Restoration works with FAT and NTFS as well as digital cameras cards.

Enuf said. Use it.

Another thing to note is that the sooner you use the recovery software after the deletion, the better the chances of recovery are. If you find that you have deleted a file by mistake, don't wait. Do the recovery software immediately. In your case the recovered file is not working properly because you must not recovered the file immediately.

Try for 'File Scavenger'
its good enough.
search for latest versions like 3.1 or later..
probably u will got trial versions which will allow u to recover upto 64 kb
my advice is, search on 'rapidshare' so may u will get full version.
Best Luck.
