I don't have a Windows 98 Bootable CD to format the drive. When i try to format from Windows it blocked and says that you can't format this drive until your windows is not running. Now i want to know there is any solution to format the drive ?

why dont u use a bootable floppy instead if u hav a floppy drive.
Boot through it n format drive u want n den run the setup again (if ya want) from another drive.

Whatever operating system you are using if you have a floppy drive, you can format the floppy as system disk and then boot with it. Then you can format your drive in dos mode.

If you are using XP , then boot with XP CD and then you can format after selecting the partition you wanna install to .

Hmmmm I believe becaase you don't have a OS cd and you want to format your drive, you must be looking to clean all your data and start afresh. If this is what you have in mind then use DBAN. It is Darik's Boot and Nuke disk wiper. Google DBAN to know more about it. Coz you don't have a floppy drive i believe you must be having a CD drive. Download DBAN for CD, create a bootable disk (read unstructions before going ahead with DBAN) and sit back and enjoy while DBAN nukes your hard drive.

Once it finishes it's job you will not have single byte of data left on your HD. 8)

And yes, i must add, use DBAN at your own discretion.

You can't format without without bootable cd or floppy disk.

I think ur facing this problem because ur trying to format drive in window mode (i.e you have started win98 and then while using the environment ur trying to format ) u can't do it.

Boot from your XP Cd .. Select Install XP now .. Agree to Licence Agreement .. Select the Partition .. Select Format the partition using NTFS (or FAT32 if you want) .. Press F .. Formatted ...
