how to validate windows vista? to check whether it is genuine or not?

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click on Validate Windows
You will be asked to download a plugin, to check whether your windows is genuine or not.

It will ask you to get a original copy and a license within time specified. If you dont get the copy within that time. I will turn off all function all you can do open an IE and browse microsoft anti-piracy site.
