Stuck when I select a folder

This is a really weird error and I'm not sure why this happens. But whenever I select "Documents and Settings" (not open), the computer gets stuck and only after 5-6 seconds, I am able to continue all operations.

CHECK THT WHEN U SELECT THE FOLDER DOES THE HDD ACTIVITY LIGHT (RED) IS ALWAYS ON OR IS IT OFF. IF ITS ON THEN THERE MAY B AN ERROR IN PAGING OPERATION OR INDEXING ,THEN RUN CHKDSK& DFRAGMENTER . ALSO REFER TO THE EVENT LOG IN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES TO SEE PARTICULARLY ABT THE ERROR. IF LED IS OFF THEN SOMETHING IS DELIBERATELY DOIN THIS (VIRUS, MAYBE) . CHECK & REPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Try scanning the drive for errors and defragment it

The problem still persists after Degragmentation and Chkdsk'ing. When I try to select the folder, no light glows but after a couple of secs, the red light glows and then folder opens.
