Default C:\windows\system\lsass.exe


dear friends,
each time i start my laptop i get the above error message heading with following comments,...windows cannot access the specified device,path or file,you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

i use win xp with sp2. my lap top is compaq presario v 3000 ,amd turion 64

after closing the above i error message i am able to work with my laptop.however,i want to know as to the cause of the error message and how to get rid the error.

Search the forum... 'coz there are so many related threads.. Just scroll to the bottom of this screen for those links..

Anyway, lsass.exe is a system process, but sasser worm can also mimic this.. So run a good antivirus scan, or check if there is a problem with lsass.exe with a free online scan at this site:

the legit ms lsass.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\. in other cases, its malware.

so do the usual first. run ur av / anti-spy / finish off with ccleaner and reboot.

shud help. if it dznt; get this file checkd at http://www.virustotal.com/en/virustotalf.html if detected as malware, use deletedoctor from www.diskcleaners.com to delete this file. u may have to run ccleaner reg clnr agn aftr this.
