Exclamation W32.SillyFDC Virus attack

Recently got my windows infected with w32.SillyFDC worm, the one tht disables ur run command, task manager and folder options....
However, got to remove the worm from the system following the removal procedure from Symantec site, but still couldnt get "RUN" back in start menu(can use it from command prompt, though) Also, the folder options has disappeared from under tools menu in explorer. How do i get these back?? Will a overwriting of Windows XP installation help?

And yeah, it still shows the error msg saying windows:/Isass.exe coudnt be found soon after restart. Am using Norton Systemworks2003...
Any remedies???

Default Re: W32.SillyFDC Virus attack

W32/SillyFDC-Z is a worm. its protection available since 24 April 2007
http://www.sophos.com/security/analy...sillyfdcz.html
maybe norton has been unable to remove it completely. rescan with it in safe mode (if norton works in safe mode !??) else use sophos or counterspy.

also run ccleaner and reboot.

then get ur hjt logfile auoto-analysed at www.hijackthis.de and fix the entries using that tool, which the site suggest. that way the Lass.exe msg wont come.

btw, lsass.exe is a legit ms process; whereas Lsass.exe is malware.
