Am aware this may have been answered earlier so please bear with me.
What is the best and most convenient way os saving You tube videos for viewing later.

download video downloader extension for firefox.
Install the plug-in, restart the firefox.
Open youtube video. To copy it to desktop, click on the small icon at the bottom right corner and it will download the video for you.

Both youtubex.com and the firefox extn don't work---what am I doing wrong?

^^ yeah.. they don't work now... But you can use the unplug extension for firefox... This one works.. coz I downloaded a video just now..,!!

Use Vixy.net coz it also converts video from flv to divx.

Thanks for all those who responded. I guess to each his own.
I found the Unplug extn of Firefox the best and most convenient. Thanks Prasas_den for pointing me towards it.
I have downloaded flv player( free and only about 1 MB file ) and the downloaded videos work just fine.

Yeah, I swear by Videodownloader. It can not only download from Youtube but also from ifilm,newshounds,google video,etc.
As mentioned earlier, the FireFox Extension of Videodownloader is quite worthy.

Vidodownloader is working again...!! It was previously showing an error mesage for the past 10 to 15 days.. Now its alright....
The unplug extension is also very good...!!

very easy way is to click on the video you want to download and add
"kiss" before "youtube"
eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOJs_3SvsmM
now just say http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=aOJs_3SvsmM
and press enter.
you will be asked to download just download as it is.
it plays only in VLC or MPClassic.
