Question Error message

I have been facing this error message recently. 'The instruction at "0x10005533" referenced memory at "0x00e50000". The memory could not be read' It has two options : one to debug and other to terminate the program. This happens while playing games and installing programs. And I think the numbers vary. Is my memory module damaged? SOS

You have not presented the name of the OS u using, but for MS XP/2000/NT/98, you have to check that if the problem persists with every programs or some specific programs. Try to get a CD of Knoppix and run the program & if the problem persists, then you have some problems with your memory.

This vulnerability is caused due to buffer memory overflow. Your Windows XP is not up-to-date. I suggest you to reinstall SP2 and install all updates. Autopatcher XP will be a handy one to install after reinstalling SP2.

I wonder why it's not working out for you.
One more thing to be done..
Install all Windows Updates from Start>All Programs>Windows Update.
Also turn ON "Automatic Updates" Option in Control Panel> Automatic Updates

whoah these errors r a pain ! usually i pray; and they just go away after sometime

svchost.exe is a generic process used by MANY different programs on your system. this error of urs cud occur if uv instld something new and that softies service is using the svchost.exe process; or it cud b aftr a recent windowsupdate or it cud b anything (!) else too ! so this is easily said; identifying the culprit is difficutl. so if posbl try to find out when exactly u get this error, eg while opening/using which appli, etc.

well u can try some of the foll, one AFTER the other, and c if any one of them help. try each for a day or 2 and c if it helps.

in any case, first update fully ur windows; atlst with the latest autopatcher. then use ccleaner to clear pc junk and reboot.

option 1.
turn off automatic updates.

option 2.
open services and disable Windows Driver Foundation

option 3.
Open Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in XP and there should be a check box that will allow you to create an exception for this error. It may be shown as a Generic Host Application. Check that box and reboot your PC. Now go back into DEP and uncheck the exception, so DEP will do its thing. Reboot your PC and the error should not HOPEFULLY show up again.

if after a few days u find none work, revert back to ur original system state and see these long posts:
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/...e-error-0.aspx
http://www.pchell.com/support/svchosterror.shtml

take care !
