Default A Light & A Reliable AntiVirus???

Hi Guys!

I have a Pentium II 400 MHz. which 128 MB RAM in my office. I need a antivirus for this system. I know KAV is the best in this field, but I need something that is low on resource and still very effective. I dont mind either a paid or a free AV. Please recommend...

Chao...

KAV might be reliable but not light on his comp specs...So I feel NOD32 might be a better option

Plz dont start another AV war after reading my post

NOD32 isn't that good anymore and KAV takes a toll on system performance. Avira is free, has better heuristics than KAV and as good as NOD32, and is one of the lighest AVs around.

Dear o Dear...
I am still on the same plot...

Nod32, KAV, Avast or AVG...

Reactions are so mixed and votes seems to go equally for all the four. So, what should I do now. Install all of them thereby killing my machine altogether. Comeon guys, give me ONE...

Some good ones are available for free. "Active Virus Shield" is the free version of Kaspersky Antivirus. It just consumes around 9MB of memory. This is most suitable one for your PC.

It doesnt have real time scanning, so no point installing it...

I have tried Nod, AVG, Norton & Kaspersky. But personally, I like BitDefender. But I don't recommend it to you guys, unless you have a QuadCore Processor.

Digit, Again you are thinking wrong. Check this sites:

http://www.thepcspy.com/articles/oth...windows_down/5

http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=82

http://hcp.wincustomize.com/articles...aid=116286&c=1

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,12...1/article.html

Play with Kaspersky or Nod, both are better. If you need a professional solution, bitdefender is the best.

Please don't go for Avast.
I installed the Avast on my x64 Win XP and surfed the net. There seems to be no problem at all. But when I scaned my x86 Win XP with Kaspersky internet security. It showed me 17 viruses. Scaning on x86 XP was performed just after the scaning of x64 XP.
And one biggest problem Avast allows viruses to enter your PC but does not allows the virus to leave your PC. So it is good for other PC if you install it on your PC.

In any case Avast and AVG free are licensed only for home and personal use, for office use, you will have to purchase the paid version.

You can also have ClamWin Portable as a second line antivirus coz as of now it does not have realtime scanning. So you have to manually scan the files and PC.
