Question Windows XP problem

My computer's configuration is:
Intel 946GZ motherboard, Intel 3.0 GHz 2MB Cache HT processor,1.5 GB RAM n 160GB HDD.
Now when i install any game on Windows XP , they appear to be hanging n graphics are not so good.
But on Windows Vista all games run greatly..there is no graphic hanging problem.
Can anyone tell the reason for it.Doesnt my PC support XP...Also XP CD is fine i hv tried on other PCs.
Even the On-Board Graphic Card shown in XP is 128MB and on Vista is 384MB.Dont know whats the problem while using XP.Please if someone can explain it.
Also there is no H\W problem.

Vista is an advanced OS so i think it automatically configures itself to use more AGP aperture or video buffer for onboard VGA.I think the games were hanging because of low video memory/over heating of processor(common in pentium 4).Widows XP does not support DirectX 10 but ur VGA does so the graphics were better in Windows Vista.
