how 2 retain de AVG antiVir updates ???

due to some reasons i hav 2 format my PC . i m makin backup of all imp. files.
is it possoble to retain de update of AVG... norton n other softwares. if yes then how

I don't think you can make backup of antivirus updates.They need to be installed.U need to download offline setup of updates to install them again.

There is absolutely no need to take backup of antivirus updates. Updates will be included in the new versions of antivirus program. Just download the latest program and update the virus database. It won't take much time. Moreover updates are also released time-to-time for antivirus engines too.

and that too AVG updates are too less in size......it gets updated fast when u re-install.....

i known i get de latest updates when i download de latest version... but it is not easy 4 me 2 download as i browse net through my cell (gprs) n its very slow so. now as i have 2 femat my PC i wanna know is there any way i can save de updates, as de updates hav 2 be stored somewhere. so if i can save that file?

i cant even find a solution on the web

this is the only option for you now, since u'll already updated it in the online mode.

AVG updates are stored in following directory:

%appdata%\Grisoft\Avg7Data\upd7bin

Just goto this folder and copy all files in this folder. Now when u'll install AVG again in fresh XP, just right-click on AVG icon in system tray and select "Check for Updates". It'll ask the source, tell the folder location where u copied all updates. Thats it.

You can retain your AVG updates and can even use them to update on other systems. In the AVG folder, search for a 'bin' folder. All the files which were downloaded while online update of AVG will be stored there. Copy those files. Use them

eithr y=u cn do it wid the bin option mentioned by r frnd above or u cn smply download the updates manualy n instal'em.. tats all.
