Strange problem with Apache

I am having apache 2.0.43 with php 4.4. Now at the first few days, it works fine. but after few days, the browser takes too long to open the htdoc contents(index). After some more days, the browser keeps on waiting with the message "Website found, waiting for reply" and keeps waiting forever. Tested on IE6, mozila and opera.The result is same.I donot use any proxy server(checked that in the browser connection also).
Reinstallation solves the problem but again that for few days. Then the story repeats.I donot have any other webserver installed.Any permanent solution? This problem is making me crazy.

Have you tried some other apache based server like xampp or such or can you check it and see if it does give same problem?

I have cleared all the entries in Access log and error log.Now it seems working.Although donot know whether it is a permanent solution or not.
