How ras clien get IP Address...

Hi,

Let assume that my RAS ( Remote access server) Located in Delhi & the client is located at Pune. Both are connected through teliphone line via Modem . I know that we can configure Baby DHCP at the server end, but we didnot want to configure this option. then would you confirm how RAS clien get the IP address since both are conneccted through Teliphone line???

Would you please help me to solme this problem.....

The question is not clear !!!! General Rule dude in order to get the right answers you need to ask the right questions... "Both are connected through telephone line via Modem ." Yeah Right.... In order to get connected the modem does handshaking with the ISP and you get an available IP address that your ISP allots so if you are connecting to PSTN you will get an IP whether you like it or NOt then There is a list of cached ip etc etc ... you keep on getting repeatedly so pl z make your question clear ... If you are asking about virtual private networks...????
