did you get any error msg also..or simply the installtion freezes up??
Make sure that your system meet minimum requirement. This is minimum requirement for adobe acrobat 8.0 -- Intel Pentium III or equivalent processor -- Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 Professional, Home, or Tablet PC Editions, Windows 64-bit non-native (Reader), Windows 2003 Server -- 256 MB of RAM (512 MB recommended)* -- 860 MB (Professional) and 490 MB (Standard) ; optional installation files cache requires an additional 460 MB of available hard-disk space. -- 1,024x768 screen resolution If your system fulfill the min requirement, and still you face problem....Plz post again.

There are no error messages, and the installation doesn't freeze either. It just quits the moment I start it up, no messages, nothing. Like I said, it happens so quick, that it appears that the installer is not starting up at all.
I do meet the minimum system requirements, and the acrobat reader 8.0 works fine. I've also tried installing it with my anti virus turned off (avast) and also in safe mode.

Have tried that too. On doing that I get an error message saying "You need a minimum of Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 to perform this installation"

btw do you have SP2 installed?
use CCleaner & clear all temp. files. just for checking- look inside the "temp" folder for Adobe files. if there's sumthin in, delete it. & try the cmd switch Quote:
source: AppDeploy look in the source page for more on Adobe Package Knowledge Base

^^ Interesting approach to the problem. But sadly *sigh*.....its back to nowhere again. I cleaned out the temp. The command line method however does not work at all. In the cmd line, typing "AcroPro80_efg.exe /?" doesnt bring up anything at all. Even typing it for the reader installation, as pointed out above, "AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe /?" just starts the installer, and doesn't list the options.
