Default Pro with drive icon

My C drive's icon does not appear as it appears in all other drives. Wht is the problem?

And also in my friend's laptop, when i click the e: drive a dialog box appears that says that it cant find copy.exe. When i right clicked the drive the first option in the menu is "Autoplay", however it should be "open". How can i change it. All other drives open fine.

1. In regedit goto:

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
And make sure there is not a key named DriveIcons under it, if its there then simply delete the DriveIcons key.

2. Right-click on the E: drive and select "Open". Now search for a file "autorun.ini" (it may be hidden) and delete it.

Hey thanks buddy the pro is gone with my drive letter.

I will delete autorun.ini tomorrow frm his laptop but could u explain from where this file came from? Is it because of some virus......????

And why DriveIcons named key appeared when it should not in my registry.

1. It seems that u used a software to change the drive letter. Thats why it was created.

2. Yes! Its a symptom of a virus.

This is my first day at this forum and its so good.

Okay one more problem i am having is........
I have dual boot with XP (default) and window Server 2003 ( i installed it coz i am doing MCSE)

Last night i installed recovery console using windows xp and when in the morning i started my pc and tried to go to window server 2003, it simply dont start. There is no error message, when i select windows 2003 as the OS it goes one screen ahead and without any error msg the comp restarts.

XP and recovery console are working fine.
What should I do?

First welcome to the forum and I'm glad that u liked it.

regarding to ur problem, just boot ur system using 2003 Setup CD and enter into "Recovery Console". Then at the command prompt, give following command:

fixboot
bootcfg /rebuild

It should solve the problem.

thanks

as i said i have dual boot with server 2003 and xp (default OS)

When i enter into recovery console there are two options
1. c:\windows
2. g:\windows

i enter into 2 option and it asks for the password, when i enter the password it says its wrong when the password is right.
then i use blank password and it enters the g: drive

I am not doing it as i am scared a little bit lest i get problem with my xp as well.

And also plz tell me what there commands
fixboot
bootcfg/rebuild

will do?
As far as i can guess it will it will rebuild my boot.ini file

One more thing-my friends laptop is not able to detect wireless connnections from where can i fix this problem

Yes, both commands will repair the boot loader. Actually 2003 loader has been overwritten by XP loader when u installed the recovery console. So use the commands without any problem.

Regarding to the laptop issue, I think there must be a button in the laptop to enable/disable wireless connections. look carefully in laptop.

Thank you very much.
I will try it but why its not accepting my password rather its accepting the blank password?

And also the wireless connection is enabled. Actually when we take the laptop to some shop where wireless internet is being accessed, this laptop catches the internet connection. But now its not doing it? I just wanted to knw coz i am curious why so?
