Change your thread's title
Just because you face the problem of not able to download using your torrent client, don't jump to conclusions and say Win XP sucks
You might have even misconfigured your settings too in uTorrent
If you are using Windows XP SP2 execute the command firewall.cpl and check whether uTorrent is listed under Exceptions

If uTorrent is listed there, then its not an issue with XP

He has changed the title, at least the one he can and that is the first post. But members cannot change the title of the thread.

If have a firewall allow the torrent client to access the net.
I recommend that you use Azureus. Thugh it is a memory intensive it offers lot better speed control than utorrent.
Also check out portforward.com to properly forward your router's ports.
Check your speed at dslreports.com and tweaks are available at at dslreports.com\drtcp.
And for torrents go for the one with lesser leeches ad more seeds.

^^ahh brother.....wish i cud free myself from the shackles of windows..

anyways....i found out wat the culprit was....it was sum network rule in Comodo.
now i am happily downloadin

btw...am getting a speed of 22-23kbps avg on my 256kbps cable connection.
is thr any way to increase this? like mayb around 30kbps? i have tried most of the methods....like patching tcpip.sys with the event handler, using greedytorrent, applying utorrent tweaks. is thr anythin else that can speed up my torrents?
