il ask this question citing an example:

i have avast installed and working on my xp (c:\program files ... blah)

now if i boot through vista and while installing avast here i choose the same directory (the 1 in xp - c:\program files .. blah) ... will avast work fine on both OSs???

Well mAV some files which are are needed for avast are present in widows folder which might not be present in vista so you can not run avast in vista if you have installed it on xp....
