Default Re: Boot options

The Boot entries can modified by editing boot.ini file. Alternatively ...
>Start>Run>type MSCONFIG and click ok
In Boot.ini tab
Click Check All Boot Paths button.
It will tell you invalid entries. Remove the undesired ones.

Default Re: Boot options

At the command prompt, type: bootcfg /delete /ID #
Where # specifies the boot entry ID that you want to be deleted from the operating systems section of the BOOT.INI file
(have a look at the spaces between parameters of cammand)

(E.G.:
bootcfg /delete /ID 3
This E.G. will remove the third entry If u want to delete the third entry in the boot list)

BUT KEEP A BACKUP OF BOOT.INI FIRST

Default Re: Boot options

ok here is the thing ... i manually editted the boot.ini in xp and now i have this as my options:

xp
vista

when i click xp i get 2 more options:

xp
windows (default)

when i click windows default it takes me back to the 2 previous options

from wht i have gathered:

1st 2 options are from vista's boot loader (hence xp has the name i giv it in vista's boot loader)

and when i click on xp on the first screen the 2 options i get are from the xp boot loader (here xp has the name i give it in xp's boot loader)

me confuse i hope i didnt make u

Boot.ini in xp
Code:
;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=c:\
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

Yes. I have noticed it now. The default says just C:\. Good to hear that your problem is solved.
