Help I can not access BSNL Broadband Usage report

Hi there
I have Internet Explorer 6 and can not set my security settings other than medium. Every time I set them to medium low or low they are automatically going back to medium. It seems that in connection to the above I can not access my broadband usage report at BSNL any more. After reformatting the PC and re-installing XP Professional with IE 6 everything was fine and some days later the security settings were blocked again.
Can anybody please help me - my computer guru also does no know.

If this dosent work and U cant fix it with any way
Use firefox with DATAFOX addon to check dataone usage.

Dear Sumeet

Thanks for your answer. I tried to make the changes in IE that you explained but unfortunately it did not work.

Then I installed Firefox and Datafox but this does not work either. Fact is that next to the Datafox icon in my status bar there is a red x mentioning that there is an error in logging in.

I think there must be a registry entry which was made either by a software installed on my computer or by a Windows security update and this must prevent me of accessing this usage report.

Further help would be much appreciated.

It should work
Just give it another try

Put your username name as shown in image (don not use username@dataone.in USE username
And type your password carefully(SEE CAPS)


ALSO

Try fixing I.E. To its default values

Start I.E.->Tools->Options->programs tab->click"Reset Web Settings"

BTW Which Firewall U use

Dear Sumeet

I tried again very carefully and re-set IE. Does still not work.
As for my antivirus now I have AVAST- Former av was Kaspersky and I had the same probs. Therefore I do not think that it is the av.

Thanks for the information re Hijack This. I went into the webpage but they write that this is only for pros or near pros and I am far away of being one of them!!!
So I will ask my computer guru to come and make this job for me. I'll let you know.

Thanks for your help but unfortunately it just does no want to work. I am pretty sure that all this is due to that problem with IE. I think that either an installed software has set my security settings on Medium and does not allow me to change anything there or I have a tricky malware on my HD that is not discovered with Adaware SE Pro and Ad Watch Pro.

As for IE security and advanced settings - they are all set like on my friends computer and he can access BSNL without any problem.

I would not mind very much about all this except for BSNL broadband usage. We pay quite a lot and I do not want to use more than my allowed 10 GB per month but on the other hand I also do not want to make a present to BSNL in not using the GB I pay for.

If you consider to use another software to check DataOne BB usage then why not you use Opera ?
You can easily avoid all this IE glitch.
When I use windows I never open IE to check my BB usage.

BSNL is still in stone age..they think that there is only one web browser INTERNET EXPLORER....From Jan 2004 they have not made their website compatible with firefox,opera etc...It is just IE

Install Firefox & install plugin IETAB for firefox and then give the BSNL website address to open with IETAB...It might work...try & see
EVen my friend had the same problem with this IE...He waited waited & tried so many things but nothing worked...so finally He formatted & reinstalled & all his probs were gone

If u think that there is any spyware or trojan,then use SPYBOT 1.4 & then have a thorough system check & this might work...it is always better to keep antivirus & firewall protection

gish u hv a tricky prob.
u said u reinstalled xp after formatting,so that means wen u wer putting ur back up a malware wch probably is in ur back up was copied to ur hdd. n wen after sum days u used dat sw/file/prog it was active agn.
format agn n den very carefully put files on ur pc after scanning them wth either kaspersky or nod32+ spybot s&d/adaware
then tell us what happened if u resort to do this thing

Yes...I know but you can easily browse it in Opera...

In Opera browse the portal,first it can't show up....IE needed or something open up

right click anywhere in the page --->Edit Site Preferences--->Network---->Identify As Internet Explorer--->OK

Now reload .

and you can browse the portal with out any obstacle

I am having the same problem tried firefox IE and dataone usage finder none works it takes 5 min nd then it shows ( THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED)

Now I am pretty sure that there is somewhere an entry in my registry messing up with the security settings of my computer. I have checked if I had malware and I have installed Kaspersky trial and checked all my drives. NOTHING - all is clean.

This all is so frustrating because if I re-format and re-install my software it might be there again.

I just wonder if the whole prob came from an illegal copy of Kaspersky. I had the trial version then a friend came over, fiddled something on my computer and told me: "Now you should be OK with Kaspersky until ??? (somewhen in 2008)". I did not ask him what he had done and some time later my probs begun. Maybe it's this - maybe it's something else. If you who also have probs also installed Kaspersky we might have the culprit.

I learned something - I will not go for any illegal copies in future any more. I'll buy K. or another av in 30 days.

did you instal Avast in fresh XP or after Un-Installing KAV

if later, then its most probable that KAV corrupted some registry entry.

either try KAV/KIS remove tool or format XP Install & try.

i'm using KIS + ZAP, but never faced anything like this, except with rediffmail.
