Blue Screen of Death

hey guys
i was playin war rock
loading a new game with khyber map & then i encounter the blue screen
now my computer does not start after loadin windows it says

registry (or something like that)is corrupted in system32/config/....


it is something like this
i dont remember what was at the end so i put the dots
plz help

Try starting the PC in safe mode.

I think some important file of the registry has been corrupted.

Check the complete name of the file and tell us.

I think the error message is ....

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate


In such case, the Windows registry has gone corrupt.
Now the best option would be to use the recovery CD and repair the Windows installation.

If this dosent help Then boot from your install CD, you will be presented with the option to Repair or Recover the Windows XP installation. Pressing R launches the Microsoft Recovery Console which then asks for the Administrator password. After entering the password, run chkdsk to check the drive for errors by typing chkdsk /r at the command line. If chkdsk finds errors, you may need to use chkdsk /f to repair the errors before proceeding.

hey when i put install cd it starts loading the drivers
it loads all the ide drivers such as
intel ide bus driver but.... when it starts loading all ide bus drivers it kind of hangs & then says there is a error: cant load mountmgr.sys
what is this?
are my files & documents safe ? will i be able to recover them???

I guess the installation disk prob is due to corrupted Disk.
Try using another copy if U have!
If it becomes necessary to format C drive and reinstall windows XP the the data in C drive will be lost
(My documents,desktop,and most of the programs U installed by default are In C drive).
U can still use Hiren's BootCD to boot in DOS mode and use the mini98 tool (and many other file managers available)in the CD to move the files in other drive and then format and reinstall WINXP if Everything fails

ok so my cd is corrupted now....god help me!!!
il get another copy from my friend
ive kept most of my important data on f: drve so all of it is saved right????
ill reformat C: & my pc will be up & runnin most probably

btw mountmgr.sys is a Windows Mount point manager driver.
I guess an diskcheck will help

just formatted the c: drive & reinstalled windows
waste of an hour but now i have my pc workin

No man you wont lose anything which is saved in another drive.

As you will be using the Bootable windows CD, just format C: and get everything as it is, on the other drives.

Though you will loose everything present in the my documents folder, also all the updates of softwares which you were using.
