Question can dual boot OS be started from command prompt( of bootable CD)?

win ME on drive C:
Win XP on drive D:
if drive C: is formatted then we cannot start OS of drive D: (we can put bootable XP CD and "bootcfg/rebuild" will solve the problem.)

can using command prompt of bootable CD like ultimate boot/hiren's bootable CD, directing it to some files on D:,the OS on that drive can be started?

Default Re: can dual boot OS be started from command prompt( of bootable CD)?

Hiren's has a utility for this - bootmagic. Look for it under 'More'.the change isn't permananet Though .
Another solution is to install a third-party boot-manager . . Again hiren's has a utitlity for this (haven't tried it) . Or search for symon ( or sysmon?)
