Default Disable hibernation

I am having XP Pro. I need to disable hibernation as I am not using it. But everytime I disable it, it enables itself back on during the next reboot. How do I rectify this?

I dont know about xp pro but .......
1.Go to Control Pannel......

2.Open Power Options..........
In the Power Scheme Tab.......
Choose The :
System hibernates :NEVER

3.In Advance Tab:
When I Press The ShutDown button:ShutDown
When I Press The Sleep button:StandBy

4.in The Hibernate tab:
Uncheck the Enable Hibernmate

Try this.......

If power options fails then your pc may be infected by a virus or spyware or your windows may become corrupt. First scan your computer using antivirus and antispyware if this doesn't work then repair your windows. Post your result here.

Failure of power option isnt likely to be a virus problem... Either some setting problem or maybe some file is corrupted... Run a sfc /scannow on your system to verify system files are okay... Also, are you logging in with admin priviledges?

Alternatively, you can make use of powercfg.exe as given in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324347 to create a batch file and execute it at every startup (possibly as a service)...
