Is it possible to install Win 2000 on SATA II ?

Ya, sata has issues with win 98 only. No probs with win 2000.

So does it mean we can simply install win 2000 on SATA straightforward with no issues ? I heard we have to provide SATA drivers ..is that true ?

Yes,there is some issue eith win 2000 on SATA II hard disk.
Have you tried installing win 2000 on ur sata II hard disk.Do u get any error??

If yes,than here is solution:
1)you should have win 2000 with service pack 4 to complete installation without any error.

2)Else if you dont have win 2000 with service pack 4..you need to install SATA driver,for that do this:
press F6 during installation starting. ..and than install the sata deriver.

Just make a sata driver floppy or Cd with the utility on CD or as in guide in mobo CD.
Insert it while installing by pressin F6(as ravi said) when the info on bottom of screen says "to install sata drivers, press F6". But this dialogue might change within 1~2 seconds, so u shud be fast nd dun miss this step, orelse just restart setup.

Nyway why u need to install 2k?? Just go for XP SP2...

I love to change OS s . I have tried Win 98,Me,XP,Red hat linux,Suse linux ,Ubuntu etc etc Now i want a no nonsense OS so i wud luv to try win 2K

My motherboard ASUS M2NPVM doesnt have any CD with it...frm where do I dload drivers ?
