Default Is it possible to put a password on a cd/dvd?


Guys is it possible to put a password on any cd/dvd in order to secure data?If its possible then will it work for those cds that are already written?
I dont want anyone to see its contents.

yes you can lock cds with a software, google for the software there r many
i dont think u can lock an already writen cd

Use ashampoo CD/DVD burning s/w. It has more features than Nero nd supports Blueray/HD DVD burners though we dun have them.

Thanks.I think i can find ashampoo cd/dvd burner in Digit's DVD.Can i lock a cd/dvd which is already written?

And how will it work for autorun cds?

already written cd becomes read only so no furthur info can be added or
modified so u cannot lock already written cd/dvd.

I don't think u can password protect cds such that they can b edited... already existing cds.. no way.

What u can do is make a password protected container with either TrueCrypt(free) or BestCrypt(paid) and put it in the cd...

So whenever u wanna access ur password protected file.. just open it with TrueCrypt(or BestCrypt), give required password & use the files within the container... on-the-fly. However, u cant add/delete files from the written cd.. as it bcomes read-only then.

I just wanna put password on CD/DVD so that no one can copy or look at the contents.

Write it again... copy contents to a TrueCrypt container, break original cd , close container, write into a new cd. Presto.... 8)
