Default DVD drive doesnt boot CDs

Recently I bought a BenQ DVD-ROM drive, after connection it to my PC,

I upgraded the XP installtion. However Iam unable to use my my

bootable CDs in it, I mean there is no 'boot from DVD' option in my

BIOS, hence I enabled 'boot from CDROM' and inserted a bootable CD

into the drive, but it does'nt seem to boot from it. The DVD-ROM drive

is fully functional and works fine i.e it plays both CDs and DVDs. My

question is: Is my BIOS not correct as it does'nt show the 'boot from

DVD' option or bootable CDs can't be booted from DVD-ROM drives. This

is puzzle for me, I guess you people can solve it for me.

There will be no seperate options such as Boot from CD and Boot from DVD. For every optical drive Boot from CD is the common option.
Also if u have connected ur DVD drive in Secondary Channel, and if ur motherboard is 'old' such as 810 or 815 chipset (for Intel), they dont support it, for these motherboards only drives in Primary will be bootable..

In newer motheboard BIOSes u get 1st,2nd,3rd boot devices so that Secondary drives can also be used as bootable drives..

So which motherboard do u use,to which channel u have connected ur DVD drive?

Yes my motherboard is Intel 810, and my settings are like this
Primary Master : Hard Disk
Primary Slave : CD-RW
Secondary Master : DVD-ROM
Secondary Slave : None
So what do I do now ? Shall I install DVD-ROM drive in primary IDE ?
Will this solve the problem ? And what drivers are you talking about ? I did'nt get any drivers on CD, except a version on WinDVD Player.
But this piece of thing that you told me was really worh noting down.
