In system startup click on edit button...and copy the text in opened windows....and paste it here......in this thread

just make a new boot.ini with this text :

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

after this save the file as type "all files" and name it boot.ini (save it in my docs) then go to c: and enable viewing of hidden files and folders. and also both the option below as hide protected system files and the other one too.. now if you have a boot.ini in C: then open it and delete anything written in it .. now copy the text which i wrote above and save the file (YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO REMOVE READ ONLY ATTRIB. OF THE FILE FIRST)

IF YOU find no file in c: then copy the file you saved in MY DOCS there and change its attrib to read only ..

YOUR SYSTEM WILL BOOT OK now

Disable Onboard audio from BIOS or remove the Creative sound card. Use only 1 not 2.

then you should boot with win98se bootable and run scandisk and thorough scan.. coz 4kb badsectors can be anywhere.... but they can hang your system.. so better scan your disk and you will come to know where they are.. and after that you need to repartition your Drive with leaving that area..
