Win media Player 11 Setup fails
I have Windows XP Home SP2.
My Windows Media Player 11 Setup fails at 80% and says that "Setup cannot continue. Press OK to exit Setup." I tried again, after restart, but problem continues. I contacted someone, who told me to delete Media player 9.5 KEY< DWORD etc from registry. Where can i find it?
Is it an another problem?
What can be the problem!

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
he says on 80%... means his player is VALIDATED...... so you need to use a registry cleaner tool and clean your registry with that.. then uninstall any beta ver. if you installed it before... then try to install.. if not then some system files might be hampered.. if you have system restore enabled the restore your system to an earlier time

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
U don't need to remove any previous versions of WMP to install WMP 11 however if u have a pirated version of Windows XP than the installation fails but I thing ur setup file is corrupted, get it replaced.

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
I successfully updated to media player 11. During setup, it was clearly mentioned that this update was only for genuine XP users. It is possible that the setup may fail if genuineness is not found. If your OS is geniune and you still have the problem, contact microsoft, they should help you.

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
Ya, when he is saying that it gets stuck at 80%, means the validation has been passed, and the problem is related to corrupt installation files, or is a registry problem.

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
!> My XP is Genuine.
!> I had got it in DIGIT DVD.
!> Installer is OK
!> Setup is'NT corrupt
!!> I has installed 10 before, did'nt remove it.
Now when I install it, stucks at 56%. When i go to c:\program files\windows media player\ and open wmplayer.exe, it opens setup again, and stuvks at 56%.
There is some way to del it first from Registry. I don't remember, but that question was also in DIGIT Q/A previous year ( ANYBODY REMEMBER THAT).
What was there the solution!

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
ok try this-
1- Clean your PC with CCleaner.
2- Run a Registry Scan (TuneUp Utilities 2007. its safest way & trial version will do)
3- Download a fresh copy of WMP11 from MS Website.
4- Install & tell us how it went.
Download link-> Windows Media Player 11 [Total Size: 25MB]

Re: Win media Player 11 Setup fails
Try this method
# Extract (unrar or unzip) wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe by using extraction tool such as WinRAR.
# Go to the extracted folder, and execute (run) wmfdist11.exe.
# Restart the computer.
# Execute wmp11.exe.
# Restart the computer.
