Windows XP Fails to Start After You Install Vista in Dual-boot Configuration

Is Windows Vista better than XP? You tell me. I won't disclose my personal opinion in this article. I just want to talk about the transitory period when both XP and Vista co-exist on our computers.

The migration from Windows XP to Windows Vista is a slow process, especially when the user is curious, but at the same time wavering. Not everybody is convinced that the new operating system from Microsoft has enough new features to offer in order to make the switch profitable.

To avoid unpredictable situations, during the first installations, these users prefer to keep a dual boot configuration: XP and Vista on the same computer. In case Vista does not satisfy them, they can always switch back to XP. Though it is a fair solution, some reported that after Vista has been installed, Windows XP stopped booting.

i too have dual boot xp pro /vista , i am using this for past 3 months no problem . After upgrading from beta to final rtm also i faced no problems at all .


vista is bit fast compared to xp.

my config
1 Gb ram @400
2.88 Ghz intel
120 gb hdd

Use vistabootpro v3.1 to fix this problem...i had also the same problem ....you can download it from here>>http://www.vistabootpro.org/

i too am havin no problems with dual-boot....except for one...

have you tried system restore under vista..just curious....

coz whenever i switch to xp and then go back to vista there are no restore points left under vista......but if i then create a point manualy and donot use xp then i retain the restore point under vista...

do you have this problem or not ....just let me know....

have you tried unziping the same sizefile(abt 70-80mb) under both xp and vista.....

if not just try and then let me know if vista is fast...(no offence meant...)

though i agree vista is fast in some cases....or may be it is a problem in my PC

^^^^..I m another who is saying vista is much more smooth than XP.

I had also dual boot XP/vista ultimate some time before...No problem with that.


But yes,U need to install vista after XP.

I dont need to read anything..I m saying this because its my personal experience on vista.

But for best experience of vista..U need a very good confrigation.

Vista is very very very faster than Xp... Have a good RIG and experience.. it shows itself in a good rig...

vista will be gr8 ..only if the hardware is gr8..
dont expect miracle with 512 RAM if ..one has gud gpu and more than
1gb ram than vista ll run like a breeze..

Ya keeping Vista dual booting with XP for now it ig good.
Because it is hard to shift to a new one without having much work experience on it.
Vista requires higher configuration so in order to upgrade to vista the configuration of ur computer might also be changed.
