Ok..here's what I am basically looking for. I want to batch convert a bunch of mp3's into a constant BPM (beats per minute) of my choice. Basically I should be able to select multiple files, or a folder, and set the BPM and all the songs in that will be converted to that BPM (new files creation is fine by me) So any tips to do the same is much appreciated...thanks

You can use Audacity to import multiple files. Now change the project BPM in lower left to your taste. Go to "file>export multiple" to export them as separate files. Audacity is free too

thanks ... but got an problem here...the lower left corner on audacity only lets me change the bit rate and not the BPM...dunno if I am doing something wrong here... cheers

When you change the BPM, it is basically the Tempo that you are changing.

So select the entire wave, then goto Effect>Change Tempo... There you will see the option for changing the bpm.

well, the basic point of my post is to help you make same change to multiple files and then save them as separates. You can apply filters as you wish.

Can any one tell me how i increase loudness of any clip(or song). I need this basically for mp3 ringtones

If you use Audacity, first open the file u want to amplify, then press Control+A. This will select the entire wave. Then goto Effect>Amplify... You can only amplify upto a certain extent though.

Hi,

Whatever software you use you just can't change the BPM like that.

First of all - you have find out / calculate the tempo(BPM) of each song you want to change - since they will be of various BPM initially.

Second - You will have to choose time-strech (tempo) from the process to change the bpm of each file separately. and select the final bpm same so that when you play them later they run at same speed.

Using amplify you may digitally clip the wave if you are not familiar with the gain setting (DB). So indtead select NORMALIZE process - available in almost all editors.
