start up problem on win xp pro sp 2

first time when i start my pc, it takes two false with a 'ting' sound and on third attempt it starts. i m using P4 2.4 with 256 SD RAM 350 watt Power Supply with combo and floppy drive only. i have cleaned my system for dirt. even removed the RAM and cleaned it. but no result. pl help.

I might suggest u to test the SMPS....

check ur DATA BUS or may be Hard disk related issue....

the problem is only on the first start. later on if i restart the computer, it works fine.

so computers also have trouble with Cold Starts , i thought only Engines have that problem

test the SMPS as the guys said, & for loose cables (HDD, Power supply)

It looks like a hardware troubleshoot.Still I recommend u to once try to perform this action ,,,,,,let the system boots first as u said in third attempt............

Run Msconfig
startup
disable all
restart

If the problem persists come to hardware trouble shooting section.
